Summer Internship - Hodges Ward elliot
Hodges Ward Elliott (“HWE”) is a 40-year old advisory firm that has historically focused on the hospitality sector, including brokering the sale and arranging financing for domestic and international hotels and resorts. The firm is currently ranked #5 among commercial brokerages in New York City for transaction volume, which exceeded $2 billion in closed sales in 2015. Notable transactions in New York included the New York Palace Hotel, the Marriott Edition in Madison Square Park, and the Sheraton Times Square. Recently the firm expanded its business lines to include multifamily, office, land and retail sales in the New York City market. The Commercial brokerage team is currently comprised of seven professionals and is led by three senior executives: Will Silverman, Paul Gillen (MBA ’99) and Daniel Parker (MBA ’12).
The New York team is currently offering two internships: 2016 winter/spring and 2016 summer for undergraduates interested in exposure to institutional quality commercial real estate in New York City. Interns would help conduct market research on various asset classes, help prepare offering memorandum materials and pitch books for potential business, financial analysis for valuations and Broker Opinion of Value requests.
The team is seeking interns that thrive in analytical and creative environments. Skills that are valuable include professional writing, financial analysis, data science, research, and a general curiosity in all aspects of commercial real estate. Position can be structured to work with the schedule of a student, and will most likely include a specific internship project as well as various ad-hoc assignments as needed. The internship will likely include the opportunity to tour properties, participate in team market meetings and network with other New York real estate professionals. Past experience can include real estate, finance, journalism, research and analytics, data science, and public speaking.
Interested parties should prepare a cover letter, resume and letter of recommendation and submit to Michelle Rayzman (firstname.lastname@example.org) by February 15, 2016 for a Spring/Winter internship and May 1st for Summer Internship. Start and end dates for internships are flexible, but should be specified in applicants cover letter. Internship is a unique opportunity to work closely with a newly formed and growing team in our offices at 1140 Avenue of the Americas. We look forward to hearing from you!
